Exciting New Affiliation
The Company is pleased to announce a formal affiliation with the Greater London Scout Region of The Scout Association – which represents over 50% of those involved in uniformed youth organisations across London.
London Scouts will have the opportunity to earn Livery Scout Badges inspired by the trades and professions of the Livery Companies in an educational and meaningful way, demonstrating their relevance today, and inspiring the next generation to explore new careers and traditional trades that are increasingly struggling in the modern world. Most appropriately, our badge is a lovely owl holding a purse. This is taken from our Company’s coat of arms. In heraldry, an owl is traditionally a symbol of wisdom. When depicted holding a purse, or a bag of money it symbolizes financial stewardship, prudence in business and acts of charity, which is a fundamental pillar of our Charter and strategy.
As part of the affiliation, we will be working in partnership with Bromley Scout District, selected due to the area being the birthplace of two Chancellors of the Exchequer, William Pitt the Younger and Harold Macmillan. We look forward to seeing this affiliation develop over the coming years and thank Adam Taylor, both a Liveryman of our Company and a member of The Scout Association, for his tireless work to bring about this wonderful affiliation.
