London Air Ambulance

The Master and several members of the Charities’ Committee enjoyed a visit to London Air Ambulance’s helipad on Tuesday 27 July.  Your charity, the Tax Advisers’ Charitable Trust, has supported London Air Ambulance (LAA) for around 14 years and provided additional support in recent years to replace its two helicopters.  The LAA is extremely grateful for the support provided.
The work undertaken by the LAA personnel is extraordinary. They fly to 6 major trauma incidents on average a day. From the siren, through take off, to landing takes 12 minutes. Flight time to anywhere within the M25 takes 6 minutes. A significant number of lives are saved because of the operational efficiency of the LAA and because of the expertise of the doctors, paramedics,  pilots on board and all the supporting ground staff. Just as we got to The Royal London Hospital, where the helipad is situated, the helicopter flew off to the Kilburn High Road to attend a major accident involving a pedestrian and a motorcyclist.
The LAA is constantly innovating its procedures and treatments to save  more lives with good outcomes. It was the first air ambulance to carry blood and the first to do open surgery by the side of the road.
We plan to continue our support for the LAA and would like to be able to do more for them. Your donations, increasing your donations or starting to donate to TACT will help with this. Thanks to all of you and thanks to Mick, Phoebe and Milly from the LAA for being such wonderful hosts.
