The Company’s charities welcome donations, fund raising and legacies from members. Our charities do not have substantial endowments, and all donations can be immediately allocated to supporting those in need.
Reflecting the Company’s charitable ethos, members undertake to donate to one or both of our charities: the Tax Advisers’ Benevolent Fund (TABF) and the Tax Advisers’ Charitable Trust (TACT), ideally by way of a standing order.
It is recognised that members’ ability to contribute will vary. While there is no prescribed level of donation a sum, prior to Gift Aid, equivalent to your Quarterage each year is a suggested guide and £250.00 is a suggested minimum.
Standing Orders and Bank Transfers
The easiest way to donate is by setting up a standing order through your banking website or app, using the bank details below:
Bank: HSBC
Name: Tax Advisers Charitable Trust
Sort Code: 40-03-17
Account No: 0113 4493
IBAN: GB45MIDL40031701134493
BIC: MIDLGB2106N
Bank: Barclays
Name: Tax Advisers Benevolent Fund
Sort Code: 20-41-50
Account No: 33045218
IBAN: GB68BUKB20415033045218
BIC: BUKBGB22
(Both charities are businesses for account details verification.)
Your internet banking should allow you to set the term of the standing order. You may choose to make the payment for a fixed number of years. However, this means that you would need to remember to renew the standing order if you wished the payments to continue. Some members prefer to set no end date to their payments. They can, of course, cease payments at any time but this ensure that the payments are not inadvertently ended.
If you are unable to use internet banking than please print, sign and complete one or both of the standing order forms below and forward it to the Charities Treasurer (details below).
You can make one off donations by bank transfer, again using the bank account details above.

We can also receive cheques, which should be made out to the Tax Advisers Charitable Trust or Tax Advisers Benevolent Fund and sent to the Charities Treasurer at the address listed below.
Gift Aid
We hope that you will wish to make a Gift Aid declaration. This will enable our charities to obtain a refund of 25% of your donation from HMRC. It will also enable you to obtain relief at the higher rates of income tax if you are so liable.
Please note that this only relates to UK taxpayers.

Legacies
Both the Tax Advisers’ Benevolent Fund and the Tax Advisers’ Charitable Trust welcome legacies, which will normally be invested to build up our funds to support future giving. Your solicitor will need the following details in drafting your Will (and we recommend that you take legal advice in drawing up a will):
Tax Advisers’ Charitable Trust
Registered charity number: 1064392 (England and Wales)
Or:
Tax Advisers’ Benevolent Fund
Registered charity number: 1049658 (England and Wales)
Registered address for both charities: 30 Monck Street, London, SW1P 2AP
An example of the wording you could use is as follows:
I leave £X / a X% share of my residuary estate for [Tax Advisers’ Charitable Trust (registered charity number 1064392)] OR: [Tax Advisers’ Benevolent Fund (registered charity number 1049658)] at 30 Monck Street, London, SW1P 2AP for its general charitable purposes, and I declare that the receipt of the proper officer for the time being of the said charity shall be a sufficient discharge to my executors.
